Joshua 22:17-20

17Have we not had enough of athe sin at Peor from which even yet we have not cleansed ourselves, and for which there came a plague upon the congregation of the Lord, 18that you too must turn away this day from following the Lord? And if byou too rebel against the Lord today then tomorrow che will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel. 19But now, if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over into the Lord’s land dwhere the Lord’s tabernacle stands, and take for yourselves a possession among us. eOnly do not rebel against the Lord or make us as rebels by building for yourselves an altar other than the altar of the Lord our God. 20 fDid not Achan the son of Zerah break faith in the matter of the devoted things, and gwrath fell upon all the congregation of Israel? And he did not perish alone for his iniquity.’”

Ezra 9:7-15

7 hFrom the days of our fathers to this day we have been in great iguilt. And for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plundering, jand to utter shame, as it is today. 8But now for a brief moment favor has been shown by the Lord our God, to leave us a kremnant and to give us a lsecure hold

9 oFor we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, pbut has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protection

10“And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken your commandments, 11which you commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land that you are entering, to take possession of it, is a land impure with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations that have filled it from end to end with rtheir uncleanness. 12 sTherefore do not give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land tand leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’ 13And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for uour great guilt, seeing that you, our vGod, have punished us less than our iniquities deserved and have given us such a wremnant as this, 14shall we break your commandments again and xintermarry with the peoples who practice these abominations? Would you not be angry with us yuntil you consumed us, so that there should be no zremnant, nor any to escape? 15O Lord, the God of Israel, you are just, for we are left a aaremnant that has escaped, as it is today. Behold, we are before you in our abguilt, acfor none can stand before you because of this.”

Daniel 9:5-8

5 adwe have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly aeand rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. 6 afWe have not listened to agyour servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to ahour kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7To you, aiO Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, ajthose who are near and akthose who are far away, in alall the lands to which you have driven them, because of amthe treachery that they have committed against you. 8To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because anwe have sinned against you.
